Recalled to active duty following 9/11, coordinated the activation and deactivation of over 2000 naval reservists through Naval Mobilization Processing Site, Bangor. Lead team of 23, coordinated the activities of five other organizations. Created necessary business practices and customer service standards. Acknowledged as having the best customer service and fastest processing times of the Navy's 14 NMPS sites.

Coached and mentored Spent Nuclear Fuels Project personnel in preparation for an Operational Readiness Review. Advised the project on how to conduct self-assessments, build evidence packages, and prepare documentation. Conducted assessments on an as-needed basis.
Self-Employed under contract to Fluor Daniel Hanford Co. 1996 - 1998
Coordinated preparation of amendments integrating nuclear safety documents prepared for ongoing construction projects into the Tank Waste Remediation System’s Authorization Basis. Alternate member of the Tank SY-101 Technical Review Group. Co-authored technical path forward in response to a slow level increase Unreviewed Safety Question in that tank. Wrote task plans, schedules and cost estimates. Reviewed safety documents for compliance with DOE Orders and Standards. Provided technical input to safety document authors. Wrote a Visual Basic for Applications program in MS Access97 to track organizational commitments.

Provided technical support to the East Tank Farms Operations organization. Reviewed procedures, engineering documents and drawings against facility safety basis. Provided operations input to facility projects, including double shelled tank integrity assessments, ventilation upgrades, alarm validation, and temperature monitoring equipment upgrades. Approved major maintenance and upgrade work packages.

Supervised a department of 25 Officers and Enlisted men. System engineer for the ship's navigation and radio communications systems. Qualified to stand Senior Supervisory Watch on the nuclear propulsion plant. Managed physical plant worth $1.5 billion with signature authority for expenditures up to $50k. Coordinated use of ship's propulsion, HVAC, compressed air, hydraulic, and air quality control equipment. Programmed a DBase system to track security clearances. Used Harvard Graphics, Lotus Freelance, and WordPerfect to prepare briefing presentations.

Naval Science Instructor
Taught Naval Engineering and introductory Naval Orientation courses. Using direct mail and frequent public speaking appearances, doubled the size of the Freshman class as the recruiter responsible for non-scholarship students. Initiated a very successful program to prepare candidates for screening interviews at the Bureau of Naval Reactors. Expanded the preparation program to include candidates from the Minneapolis recruiting district, significantly increasing their candidate success rate.
